Catering For Royalty at the Old Palace School of John Whitgift

Our talented team were honoured to cater at an event attended by guest of honour HRH Princess Anne last week. The Princess Royal attended a lunch event held at the Old Palace School of John Whitgift.

 

The lunch, which took place on Friday 21st March, was held in conjunction with Founder’s Day celebrations. On the day Princess Anne attended a service at Croydon Minster as Court Assistant of The Fishmongers’ Company, marking the the 400th anniversary of Whitgift Foundation Founder’s Day, before heading to the Old Palace of John Whitgift School for a London Kitchen lunch.

We began with stunning spring canapés. Guests enjoyed Traditional Fish and Chips Fish Goujons and French Fries with Tartare Sauce served in Little Cones, Chicken Breast Rolled in Pancetta with Truffled Mushrooms and Crispy Sage, Caramelised Red Onion and Cherry Tomato Tarte Tatin and Mediterranean Vegetables Marinated in Garlic and Thyme Oil Served on a Toasted Bruschetta.

 

The drinks menu was designed to complement the light, fresh flavours of our dishes. We invited guests to try Apple and Elderflower, Ginger Lime and Bitters and Ginger and Lemon Grass Presse.

 

Our 80 guests were then invited to move into the Grand Hall for a seated lunch, which kicked off in retro style with our “London Kitchen Prawn Cocktail” – Mediterranean Prawns, Crayfish, and Crunchy Lettuce, served in a Martini Glass with Brioche Soldiers Finished with a Dusting of Smoked Paprika.

 

Following the starter guests tucked in to main courses of Pan-fried Fillet of Sea Bass, Salsa Verde with Crushed New Potatoes with Caramelised Red Onion and French Beans, or Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms on Lentils with Goats Cheese, Crushed New Potatoes with Caramelised Red Onion and Basil Pesto, for the vegetarians.

 

Simultaneously in the Emily Ackbown Room a cold buffet was being served, where guests were treated to a Poached Side of Salmon with Asparagus and Sauce Gebiche and Garden Pea, Parmesan and Asparagus Tart, accompanied by a Baby New Potato Salad and Grilled Roasted Mediterranean Vegetables.

 

We rounded off the feast with Freshly Brewed Columbian Blend Fair Trade Coffee, a selection of Herbal Tea Infusions and Hand Made Chocolate Truffles. No meal should end without chocolate, we’re firm believers in that!
