Hosted by Delta Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, a recent event held on the 68th Floor of the Shard saw guests enjoying an indulgent dinner in the clouds.
The event marked a new joint business arrangement between the two airlines, covering their North Atlantic routes. A cause for celebration was the new UK – US route, which will see Delta Airlines fly daily from London Heathrow to Seattle. The two airlines have now also moved into the same terminal at Heathrow, T3.
To complement the stunning setting of this event the London Kitchen team served dishes from specially created Shard light trays. Even the decor got a Shard twist, with floral arrangements created in homage to the capital’s tallest new venue.
The event began with canapés, which included Chicken Breast Rolled in Pancetta with Truffled Mushrooms and Crispy Sage, Lamb Tagine Slow Cooked in Honey, Almonds and Citrus Served in a Roasted Sweet Potato Cup with Sultanas, Lobster and Crayfish Tail Frittata with a Garlic and Saffron Aioli and much more. Our themed dessert canapés also proved a hit with guests; we served Lemon Posset in Shot Glasses with a Lavender ‘Shard’.
Following canapés guests tucked into a variety of bowl food dishes, showcasing the best of our summer dishes. Guests chose between Thai Green Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice and Fresh Thai Herbs, Seared Fillet of Cod with a Chorizo Crust with Aromatic Puy Lentils and Minted Pea Puree and Singapore Noodles with Shiitake Mushrooms, Pickled Ginger, Fresh Chillies and Spring Onions.
To take in the best of the views guests were also invited up to an open air viewing platform located on the 72nd floor, to enjoy sweeping views of the capital stretching out for miles below them – you can’t get any higher than that in London without getting into a plane!
