Summertime in London is a wonderful thing, full of exciting outdoor events, incredible street food and many an opportunity to indulge in strawberries and cream and jugs of Pimm’s! Our team love exploring the capital in search of the best foodie experiences around, so we thought it was about time they shared their top tips for summer in the capital – their picks are perfect come rain or shine!
Damian Clarkson, Managing Director
This summer you’ll find me at the Serpentine Pavilion, where our team are serving customers a whole menu of London Kitchen goodies to enjoy in the sunshine, from our very own café! Of course my top tip is a visit to this incredible temporary structure. It’s designed by a different architect every year, so don’t miss 2014’s Pavilion, created by renowned Chilean architect Smiljan Radić. And don’t miss our cafe while you’re there either!

I love spending the summer in Greenwich. It’s perfect for a lazy afternoon! The highlight of my summer has to be the Greenwich Comedy Festival. One of my favourite places is Greenwich Market, where I always make sure I check out the latest food stalls. Before leaving I love to wander around the Queen’s House. It’s an incredible venue.

I love exploring the capital’s latest pop-ups, from restaurants and food stalls to shops and experiential activities! The summer is the perfect time to unearth hidden gems, and this summer has already seen some fantastic pop-ups. My top recommendation is the Argentinian Pizza Supper Club, read all about it in our round up of top pop-ups for July.

No summer would be complete without a few afternoons spent relaxing on a rooftop. As soon as the sun’s out I’m off exploring the finest rooftop bars London has to offer. My favourite for a spot of luxury has to be the Radio Bar at the ME Hotel, but if it’s more of a budget day the South Bank Centre’s Roof Gardens are the perfect place to soak up the sunshine.
Rachel, Head of Venues
I’m a big fan of honest, real food – something close to all of our hearts here at the London Kitchen. When I’m not busy sourcing amazing venues for our guests I love to explore the Real Food Festival, which can be found on the South Bank throughout the summer. If you visit I’d recommend you try an artisan ice lolly from The Ice Kitchen, the flavour combinations will ensure these are unlike any lolly you’ve ever had before!
Jonathan, Operations Manager
London is great in that you can always find new experiences, and one of my favourite discoveries has to be the Rooftop Film Club. Open throughout the summer, the Rooftop Film Club shows some real classics high above the streets of London. There’s one in Shoreditch and another in Peckham – it’s the perfect way to spend a summer’s evening.
Jamie, Event Planner
Notting Hill Carnival is the highlight of my summer, if you haven’t been yet you must do it this year! From the music and entertainment to the sensational food, this is the perfect way to spend the August Bank Holiday weekend. Don’t leave without trying some authentic Jerk Chicken!
