Our team can never resist something sweet from one of London’s top bakeries and cake shops! We asked them to pick out a few of their favourites, from all over the capital. Here are their top recommendations.

 

Scandinavian Kitchen, W1W

An authentic Scandinavian bakery with smiling staff. Cakes are baked every day: kladdkaka (Swedish sticky chocolate cake, served with whipped cream) and apple cake are excellent choices; there’s a good range of teas, such as elderflower and ginger, too.

Visit this place for amazing cupcakes, cakes, coffee and sodas, it’s 1 Kingly Court (cobbled passageway between Kingly Court & Beak Street).

The bakers at Bread Ahead are really about sourdough: a white, a brown, a raisin and a multigrain, a range of Italian style breads, good baguette, doughnuts and some other snacky things like cheese straws. We’d also recommend their Borough Market bakery school.

 

Konditor & Cook, SE1

The distinctive folds of Konditor & Cook’s whisky and orange bombe make it one of the best-known cakes in their range, along with the brilliant Curly Wurly cake! Don’t miss the great hot chocolate, made with double cream and Valrhona couverture.
