White Wine
Mas de la Tour Grenache Blanc-sauvignon Domaine Bonfils
Refreshing, light and crisp, this Mediterranean styled blend of Grenache Blanc and Sauvignon is a fabulous every day drinking wine.
Vermentino Domaine les Yeuses
This is a terrific value southern French dry white made from the Mediterranean’s Vermentino grape, aka Rolle. Zingy and fresh with mouthwatering lemon sherbet flavours, this is a great alternative to Muscadet if you’re thinking of shellfish.
Mistral Chardonnay Sauvignon Viognier Viña Candelaria
Very fresh and fruity on the nose, initially dominated by the scented and aromatic Viognier, followed by good weight of Chardonnay, the long fresh finish driven by the Sauvignon. All the grapes in this blend are selected from Central Valley.
Grenache Blanc-Viognier Domaine de la Croix Belle
Tip-top value, a commodity not to be sniffed at in straitened times, this distinctive Mediterranean blend of southern France’s Grenache with the northern Rhône?s Viognier is a winning combination of fresh fruit and spice with dried apricot richness and weight, all in all an impressive and appetising dry white that punches above its weight.
Pinot Grigio Vallagarina Cantina Valdadige
Good quality basic Pinot Grigio from a very quality conscious small co-operative of growers in the Valdadige. Bright fruit and a delicately smoky, crisp finish.
Macon Vinzelles Caves des Grande Cru
Straightforward, unoaked Chardonnay from this excellent small co-operative. The rich buttery texture of this wine is entirely down to quality of fruit and very good winemaking.
Sancerre Chavignol Domaine Vincent Delaporte
A full flavoured muscular wine from classic ‘silex’ (silica) soils, not as overtly Sauvignony as those grown on the chalk soils to the west, nor as firmly dry as the wines from the limestone of Bué. A perfect balance of fruit and firm minerality. Really expressive in the 2007 vintage.
Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaumes Domain Adhémar et Francis Boudin
Fine and steely on the nose. Pretty full on the palate, lots of juicy fruit, perhaps one of the more forward premiers crus at the moment?
