The tallest building in Western Europe celebrated its first birthday last night, with a show-stopping celebration for specially invited guests and VIPs. The Shard’s guests partied into the night at a height of 1,016ft, raised a toast high above the streets of London – and enjoyed some sensational views while they were at it.
Entertainment came in the form of Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, who was on hand to get those feet moving on the dance floor, as well as the original Sugababes, who performed all their best-loved hits against 360 degree, 64km views of the bright lights of the capital.
As exclusive caterers at this prestigious occasion, we felt it only right that we provide some extra special bespoke touches, so we served our Shard themed canapés on specially made ‘View from the Shard’ light trays – it’s all about the presentation, you know!
Guests enjoyed a selection of London Kitchen miniatures, including Tuna Tataki with Grilled Asparagus, Lamb Tagine Slow Cooked in Honey, Almonds and Citrus Served in a Roasted Sweet Potato Cup with Sultanas, Thai Spiced Fish Cakes with Mango and Mooli Salsa – and an extra special Lemon Posset Served in a Shot Glass with Lavender ‘Shard’.
The entire venue was cloaked in stunning lighting by Fisher Productions, with florist Lavender Green’s incredible displays in Shard vases creating fantastic focal points throughout this unique event space.
