Tom Odell Launches London City Island

November saw the launch of new 12-acre island neighbourhood, City Island, across from Canning Town. In attendance on the night were a fair few famous faces, including Daisy Lowe, Millie Mackintosh and Henry Holland.




We served a selection of hot and cold canapés as guests heard all about the exclusive new neighbourhood. Hot canapés included Seafood ‘Black Pudding’ of Lobster Bisque-Infused Polenta Cup, Coloured with Squid Ink and Served with Crayfish Cocktail and Samphire, Orkney Scallops on a Cauliflower Puree with Sevruga Caviar and Chervil Served on a Glass Spoon, ‘Naked’ Wagyu Beef Burger with Comté Cheese and Mushroom ‘Patty’ and Smoked Baby Beetroot Wrapped in Aged Manchego with an Orange and Saffron Gel.




There were also cold canapés of Smoked Duck Breast on a Brioche Croute with Orange and Red Wine Gel, ‘Gin and Tonic’ Bermondsey Gin Cured Salmon with a Juniper and Tonic Jelly on Pickled Cucumber Garnished with an Edible Borage Flower, Tuna Tartare with Avocado Mousse and Tokyo Rice Paper Roll with mixed Peppers, Spring Onions, Cucumber and Fresh Mint.




And of course no London Kitchen meal could end without something sweet! Our dessert canapés included ‘Sweet Sushi’ – Vanilla Rice Pudding Nigiri with Compressed Watermelon Sashimi and Rose Wine Foam and Salted Caramel Peanut Butter Lollipop Served on Chocolate Sand.


Our drinks list was just as inventive, with cocktails including the ‘G & Tea’, Espresso Martini and a Rose-Hip Sour, and hot cocktails including the Winter Toffee Apple and Mulled Sloe Gin.




Guests were then entertained by singer Tom Odell, who currently features on the John Lewis Christmas advert! We were a little disappointed to find that no penguins were able to attend, however…
